AREA ALUMNAE REPRESENTATIVE: JOB DESCRIPTION

The Area Alumnae Representative (AAR) is the local link between retired La Leche League Leaders and La Leche League.

As this link, the AAR will be:

A member of the LLLI Alumnae Association.

A liaison between her designated area*, retired Leaders and Alumnae members in that area, and the LLLI Alumnae Association.

A member (active or honorary) of the Area Council, receiving Area Council mailings and communicating with the Area Coordinator of Leaders.

A member of the Area Conference committee or in contact with the Area Conference Supervisor or Area Events Coordinator.

*The word "area" using a lower case "a" does not necessarily represent the La Leche League administrative "Area" but rather any organizational locality that the AAR has been appointed to represent. The upper case "Area" represents the La Leche League organizational Area.

The AAR will assist in identifying retired Leaders and promote Alumnae membership by:

Finding the names and contact information of retired Leaders and creating a database.

Sending this information to LLLI and the Area so it can be added to their databases.

Receiving the names and contact information of newly retired Leaders and incorporating these updates in the AAR and the Area databases.

Attending Area Conferences and other events to promote and increase Alumnae membership.

Arranging to have Alumnae brochures, Continuum, and other Alumnae Association materials available at LLL events.

Communicating with the Area Alumnae Representative Coordinator (AARC) to share ideas and seek support and assistance.

Using resources such as the AAR egroup for communication with the AARC and other AARs and for accessing relevant files.

Receiving the AAR publication, AARContinuations, from the AARC.

AARs are encouraged to engage in other activities, as time permits, that may promote Alumnae involvement, such as:

Maintain contact with Alumnae members through newsletters, gatherings, special events, etc.

Offer her expertise as a speaker at Area Conferences or suggest sessions of interest to retired Leaders/members.

Acknowledge newly retired Leaders and offer information about Alum membership.

Serve as a resource or mentor for new Leaders.

Submit articles to the Area Newsletter about Alumnae activities, activities and accomplishments of retired Leaders, and the history of the area.

Submit articles to the Alumnae publication, Continuum.

Help archive the area's history.

Encourage Alumnae members to support the Alumnae Association financially.

Attend International Conferences and assist with special events.
