The 19th Biennial International Conference
Breastfeeding: An Ancient Art, A Modern Miracle
Hilton Washington and Towers,
Washington DC USA ~ July 2-5, 2005

At LLLI conferences, there is something that captures the essence of an LLL meeting, the warmth of a mother-
to-mother exchange.
It's simple really.
It's us. Us in all our ages and stages of mothering and leadering. Us from our various cultures and corners of the world. Us connecting and converging, working through differences, finding common ground, looking to the future, affirming the past. It's us, being stretched and pulled. It's us holding and comforting. It’s us celebrating.

It's us, mothers all.

THE FOUNDERS' TEA
A Proper Tea is much nicer than a Very Nearly Tea, which is one you forget about afterwards, according to Pooh's Little Instruction Book. The Founders' Tea was most definitely a Proper Tea. "Music from a Mother's Heart" was this year's theme. An elegant light meal was served and the LLL Founders were present as special guests. Grand. Wonderful. Magnificent. A highlight of the Conference! are superlatives about the Tea shared on evaluations. See pictures.

WE REMEMBER
The LLLI Alumnae Association continues a tradition as we commemorate LLL Leaders who have died. A tribute is always presented at the end of the Afternoon Tea. Please send names, city and state, or city and country where the Leader served LLL, and year of death to: Nancy Franklin, 4203 Gardendale, #221C, San Antonio, TX, 78229,USA or fax: 210-593-4100 or email: NBFLLL77@aol.com. See the latest "We Remember" list.

REJUVENATION ACTIVITIES
Long days spent learning exciting information can leave anyone tired and restless. We had a number of great opportunities for rest and rejuvenation, from knitting to singing or storytelling. Pictures to come.

FOUNDERS' PARLOR
Eveyone who attended raved about the Founders' Parlor, a chance to sit down and talk with Edwina, Marian, Viola, Betty, Mary, Mary Ann, or Mary Ann.  See pictures.

LATE NIGHT CHAT
We enjoyed good company, lively conversation, and added our voices to the future plans for the LLLI Alumnae Association. Read 25 Reasons to join the Alum Association that were gathered at this event.

25-YEAR LEADER GATHERING
A Gathering for Leaders Who Have Celebrated Their Silver Anniversary (or more) with LLL, hosted by the LLLI Alumnae Association. Thoughts were shared, memories and triumphs. Lifelong connections were renewed and new friends made. The room was full of the powerful energy that radiates from experienced and wise LLL Leaders. Pictures to come.

ALUM FUN !
The energy is awesome. The conversations are rich. The get-away is restorative. The laughter is hearty. (And the food is good!) See pictures of alums and others at alum activities.
