IRELAND

LLL of Ireland was founded in 1966.

Jane Farren (Leader, Cork, Ireland 2007) ~ LLL in Ireland began when Norah Leach read an article in the Raeader's Digest about LLL by Karin Pryor entitled "They Teach the Joy's of Breastfeeding". Norah wrote to the Founders in Chigago and they began an on-going letter writing relationship about breastfeeding and mothering. So LLL of Ireland began in 1966.

By this time Norah was a grandmother herself. She was a very interesting woman with a background in science. There were about 12 Leaders in Ireland in 1974 and perhaps about 18 by 1976. There were 2 DAs at that time! Norah Leach finally met the Founders at an LLL Conference in in the Blarney Park in 1991. She passed away in 1994. Leaders, mothers and babies in Ireland have reason to be grateful to Norah as today there are 79 active Leaders and 36 Groups.
