San Antonio Highlights Comments from those who were there!

As the Riverwalk winds through the heart of the city, San Antonio’s numerous parks and plazas make it one of America’s most picturesque cities. San Antonio is surrounded by the diverse cultures of the city’s Native American, Spanish, Mexican, Deep South and Wild West history. Some of the highlights of our trip include:The Alamo, was established as a Spanish Mission in 1718 and later became the site of last stand in their war against Mexico in 1836.

The Spanish Missions, established along the San Antonio River in the 18th century by the Spanish to spread the Catholic faith among the frontier Indians.

The Mexican Market, featuring many specialty shops, art galleries, and restaurants.

A San Antonio River Barge Cruise, with a narrated tour highlighting the Riverwalk and downtown area of the city German Mansions in the King William District, built during the 1800’s, with a tour of the Steves Homestead.

The Institute of Texas Cultures, presenting the history and diverse cultures of Texas through art, and artifacts.

The San Antonio Botanical Gardens, covering 33 acres of native plants reflecting the natural areas of east and southwest Texas and the Hill Country.

The San Antonio Museum of Art, situated in an historic brewhouse with four levels of galleries that include Asian, European and American art.

The Historic Restored Aztec Theater, built in 1926 as one of the most elaborate movie palaces in the country. We will sample a variety of ethnic foods that are typical for the area.

  • I think this trip was excellent. Great tours, great food, great company!
  • I loved the personal sharing the first night; it set the tone. Hope to have more small group discussions with topics. Great fun—wonderful time—I’ll be back!

  • Wonderful job, ladies. Thank you. So well organized. I never go on tours except yours here and Savannah and loved them.
  • The friendships and camaraderie have been terrific. Can’t wait until the next one!

  • This was wonderful! The city choice and the events, the fabulous food; it was all just fantastic.

  • This was great. Good mix of events and chance to meet/catch up with new friends/old friends. I especially enjoy having interesting things planned out for us and the pace.

  • For me, each tour has been special, and I have enjoyed experiences that otherwise would not have had the opportunity. They were well planned; the food has been good, and times left to rest were good.
