It’s Conference time again. Have you been to one? Whether LLLI Conferences are a part of your memories, are only something you hear about every two years, or are an event you rarely miss, they are a high point for our organization.

Yes, the information is valuable and the speakers are inspiring. But there’s something more. Something that captures the essence of an LLL meeting, the warmth of a mother-
to-mother exchange.
It’s simple really.
It’s us. Us in all our ages and stages of mothering and leadering. Us from our various cultures and corners of the world. Us connecting and converging, working through differences, finding common ground, looking to the future, affirming the past. It’s us, being stretched and pulled. It’s us holding and comforting. It’s us celebrating.

It’s us, mothers all.

GREAT SESSIONS!
Sought-after speaker and author of two international bestsellers, Barbara Coloroso, will inform and inspire at her opening night presentation, Ethics and Children. Ms. Coloroso well help parents teach their children how to think and act ethically. Whether toddlers or teens, she believes that “kids are worth it.” Barbara Coloroso is a dynamic speaker in the areas of parenting, teaching, school discipline, and non-violent conflict resolution. She is an educational consultant for school districts, the medical and business community, the criminal justice system and other educational associations in the United States, Canada, Europe, South America, Asia, New Zealand, Australia and Iceland. Barbara Coloroso will also present a session on Bullies, Victims, & Bystanders: From pre-school to high school-- How parents can help break the cycle of violence.

Rita Emmett will give us sure fire ways to help overcome the damaging habits that keep us from beginning a task in her humorous and information-packed presentation “Mastering the Art of Doing It Now.” Author of the Procrastinator’s Handbook and The Procrastinating Child, Ms Emmett will present an informative, fun-filled approach. A self-proclaimed recovering procrastinator who took decades to write her book, Emmett uses humor and story-telling to teach a serious subject. Attendees will leave the session with tips and strategies they can begin to use immediately so that they will begin today what needs to be done. Ms. Emmett will also present the session Who Is Taking Care of You? Caring for others while keeping joy and fun in your life.

Presenting the big picture of parenting, Gordon Neufeld, PhD will tell us why parents matter in his presentation “Hold On to Your Kids.” Dr. Neufeld’s belief is that attachment is the foundation of parenting and that peer pressure is one of the biggest problems facing parents today. He believes that ongoing attachment is the key to good parenting—“Outside of attachment, we as parents and teachers are just ordinary human beings to children, of no special significance, not deserving of deference and without any natural authority.” With over thirty years experience in developmental and clinical psychology and the practical experience of being the father of five and the grandfather of three, Dr. Neufeld will encourage and inform attendees so that they will be empowered to make a positive and lasting difference in the lives of their children. He will also speak at a sesson on Making Sense of Adolescence: Understanding and dealing with teenagers

Learn Across the Lifespan —Discover how your learning style and motivation style influence how you learn new things, how you can learn more no matter how busy you are, and how to build on your strengths so you can learn more from life. Author Marcia L. Conner leads you through this lively interactive pre-conference afternoon workshop. She will also lead the session Parents Have Learning Styles, Too!

THE FOUNDERS' TEA
