LLLI INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE

LLL Founders Mary White, Marian Tompson, Edwina Froehlich, Betty Wagner Spandikow, Mary Ann Kerwim, Mary Ann Cahill, Vi Lennon
The 19th Biennial International Conference
Breastfeeding: An Ancient Art, A Modern Miracle
Hilton Washington and Towers,
Washington DC USA ~ July 2-5, 2005

At LLLI conferences, there is something that captures the essence of an LLL meeting, the warmth of a mother-
to-mother exchange.
It's simple really.
It's us. Us in all our ages and stages of mothering and leadering. Us from our various cultures and corners of the world. Us connecting and converging, working through differences, finding common ground, looking to the future, affirming the past. It's us, being stretched and pulled. It's us holding and comforting. It's us celebrating.

It's us, mothers all.

The Tale of the Traveling Teapots
Here's a letter we received after the 2005 Conference:

I was very impressed with the support that Alumnae members gave to the La Leche League International Conference.  Their presence was very evident throughout the Conference and I have been including this observation in my feedback since my return to New Zealand. That those women whose families have grown are still giving of their time and resources to LLL is a great encouragement to us all.

The Founders Tea was a particular highlight, as I came home with a remarkable heartshaped teapot covered in hearts. I have held a high tea for my local co- leaders, then our local Group's support team and as part of our local Chapter meeting in September. The teapot was the centre piece along with the little 'invitations' with their
spoons, as I talked the women through the scene at the Founders Tea and gave feedback about the Conference in general. This teapot seems destined to travel to and from LLLNZ Board meetings. Please pass on my personal appreciation to the women who were involved in giving of their time and energy to make this such a memorable event.

Kind regards,

Alison Stanton

Each table had an antique tea pot that one guest took home.
